Doku­men­ta­tion (16mm, s/w)

»Was einst für die Dritten Welt­fest­spiele 1951 Vorzei­ge­schwimm­sta­dion der DDR war, ist heute ein Ort für Treffen ganz anderer Art. Seit zwei Jahren sehen sich Rico, Enni, Tom, Steven und Christian jeden Tag in der Ruine des alten Frie­sen­schwimm­sta­dions in Fried­richs­hain. Manchmal sitzen sie nur auf den Zuschau­er­bänken und quatschen, meist aber betreiben sie ihre Art von ›Sport‹. Sie spielen Hockey mit alten Dosen, Aschen­be­cher­weit­wurf von der Tribüne und Stuhl­dis­kus­werfen vom Sprung­turm. In der Doku­men­ta­tion wird versucht ein Bild der Clique an diesem ›ihrem‹ Ort zu zeichnen und damit auch das alte Frie­sen­schwimm­sta­dion zu porträ­tieren, als abge­schlos­senen Raum, inmitten des Zentrums einer Großstadt, in dem sich eine Gruppe von Menschen ein Reich mit ganz eigenen Gesetzen geschaffen hat.

Once it was the swimming stadium the GDR used for repre­sen­ta­tion, but now it is a place of encounter of a totally different kind. Since two years Rico, Enni, Tom, Steven, and Christian meet every day in the ruins of the old ›Frie­sen­sta­dion‹ at Fried­richs­hain/Berlin. Sometimes they just sit there, but generally they practice their personal ›sport‹. They play hockey with empty tins, long distance throws from the stand with ash-trays, etc. In the docu­men­ta­tion, a picture is drawn of the clique and ›their‹ place and by this means also a portrait of the old ›Frie­sen­sta­dion‹. It is a space cut off from the rest of the world and still in the very centre of the capital. It is where a group of people has conquered a territory and where life has a different nature.
