»Pie in the Sky beschreibt das Leben von Brigid Berlin, Andy-Warhol-Superstar. Ihr Vater, Leiter der Hearst Corpo­ra­tion, und ihre glamouröse, in Schi­ckeria-Kreisen verkeh­rende Mutter erwar­teten von Brigid, dass sie in ihre Fußstapfen treten und ein perfektes Leben führen würde. Jahrelang rebel­lierte Brigid. Schließ­lich rannte sie mit einem schwulen Schau­fens­ter­de­ko­ra­teur davon und brachte während eines Sommers auf Fire Island ihre erste Erbschaft durch.
Ihr Kontakt zu Andy Warhols Factory und ihr immenser Amphet­amin­konsum brachten das Fass zum Über­laufen. Der Film zeigt ihre Auftritte in den bekannten Warhol-Filmen Bike Boy, Imitation of Christ und dem Under­ground-Klassiker Chelsea Girls, durch den Brigid Kult­status erlangte, als sie eine amphet­amin­ge­füllte Injek­ti­ons­spritze durch den Hosen­boden ihrer Jeans stieß.
Brigid hat sich in den letzten fünf­und­dreißig Jahren obsessiv ihrer Kunst gewidmet: Sie schoss Polaroids von Künstlern und Downtown-Bewohnern, machte ›tit-prints‹, zeichnete jeden Tele­fon­anruf auf und füllte ihre zahllosen ›trip books‹ mit Zeich­nungen und Notizen. Heute, mit sechzig, hat sich ihre Obsession auf ihre Mops-Sammlung und das Führen eines perfekten Haushalts verschoben.
Der Doku­men­tar­film beinhaltet sowohl Kommen­tare des Filme­ma­chers John Waters, des Schau­spie­lers Taylor Mead, des ›Vanity Fair‹-Mitar­bei­ters Bob Colacello, des Künstlers Larry Rivers und von Patricia Hearst als auch Mitschnitte von vertrau­li­chen Tele­fon­ge­sprächen zwischen Brigid und Andy Warhol. Die Origi­nal­musik in Pie in the Sky stammt von ›Blondie‹-Gründer Chris Stein.

Pie in the Sky is a docu­men­tary on the life of Brigid Berlin, Andy Warhol superstar. Her father, head of the Hearst Corpo­ra­tion, and her glamorous socialite mother expected Brigid to follow in their footsteps and lead a perfect life. Through the years, Brigid rebelled conti­nu­ally and finally eloped with a gay window dresser and spent her first inheri­t­ance in one summer on Fire Island. Her asso­cia­tion with the Andy Warhol and blatant use of amphet­amines was the last straw.
The film features Brigid Berlin’s appearances in the infamous Warhol films Bike Boy, Imitation of Christ, and the under­ground classic Chelsea Girls, in which Brigid (playing a lesbian pill pusher named ›The Duchess‹) gained her cult following by plunging an amphet­amine-filled hypo­dermic needle right through the seat of her jeans.
Brigid has spent the past thirty-five years obses­si­vely making her art; taking Polaroids of artists and downtown denizens, making ›tit prints‹, taping every phone call, and filling her countless ›trip books‹ with drawings and ephemera. Today, at the age of sixty, her obsession has shifted to her pug collec­tions and keeping a perfect house.
The docu­men­tary is intercut with commen­tary by filmmaker John Waters, actor Taylor Mead, Vanity Fair cont­ri­butor Bob Colacello, artist Larry Rivers, and Patricia Hearst, as well as intimate phone conver­sa­tions between Brigid and Andy Warhol. Pie in the Sky features an original score by Blondie founder Chris Stein.

Vincent Fremont
Geboren 1950 in San Diego. Begann kurz nach seiner Ankunft in New York im Sommer 1969 für Andy Warhol zu arbeiten. Schließ­lich war er Vize­prä­si­dent von Andy Warhol Enter­prises. In den siebziger und achtziger Jahren produ­zierte und entwi­ckelte Vincent zusammen mit Warhol Videos, Fern­seh­filme und Film­pro­jekte, u.a. Andy Warhols Fifteen Minutes for MTV, Fight starring Charles Rydell and Brigid Berlin, Phoney.
Pie in the Sky ist sein erster Film.

Shelly Dunn Fremont
Geboren 1954 in Detroit. Studierte an der Parsons School of Design und arbeitete anschließend zunächst als Art Director u.a. für Estée Lauder, Avon Products und das Magazin ›Fashions of the Times‹. Sie war Künstler-Agentin und schrieb regel­mäßig Beiträge über Galerien, von denen sie eine, die A/D Gallery, auch leitete.
Pie in the Sky ist ihr erster Film.«
